Airworthiness Directive activity

FAA / EASA public regulatory data

30airworthiness directives affecting this fleet — recurring compliance demand for the parts and shops that serve it
Most recent
  • FAA AD 2026-10-03effective Jun 25, 2026Prohibition

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Leonardo S.p.a. Model AB139, AW139, and AW189 helicopters. This AD was prompted by a report of cracks on the left-hand (LH) and right-hand (RH) tube assemblies installed on the brake pedal assemblies. This AD requires repetitively inspecting the LH and RH tube assemblies for Model AB139 and AW139 helicopters, and the LH and RH pedal shaft assemblies for Model AW189 helicopters, and depending on the results of the inspection, corrective actions. This AD also prohibits installing certain parts unless certain requirements are met. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

  • FAA AD 2026-09-05effective Jun 17, 2026Prohibition

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Leonardo S.p.A. Model AB139 and AW139 helicopters. This AD was prompted by reports of a damaged spare inflation system of a certain life raft kit due to the inappropriate shipment of the parts. This AD requires replacing certain life raft inflation systems and prohibits installing an affected life raft inflation system on any helicopter. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

  • FAA AD 2026-04-03effective Apr 2, 2026Mixed actions

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Leonardo S.p.A. Model AB139 and AW139 helicopters. This AD was prompted by a report of interference found in the overhead panel area between the electrical cables and adjacent connectors. This AD requires repetitively inspecting the overhead panel and, depending on the results, repairing or replacing the damaged wires. This AD also requires modifying the overhead panel on certain helicopters. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

  • FAA AD 2026-06-01effective Mar 31, 2026Mixed actions

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Leonardo S.p.a. Model AB139 and AW139 helicopters with a certain supplemental type certificate (STC) installed. This AD was prompted by the absence of instructions on the information placards located next to the rear-facing seats to lock the seat headrest in the highest position during takeoff and landing. This AD requires revising the existing rotorcraft flight manual supplement (RFMS) and replacing the information placard with one that specifies instructions for locking the seat headrest. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

  • FAA AD 2025-03-03effective Feb 19, 2025Mixed actions

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Leonardo S.p.a. Model A109E, A109K2, A109S, AB412, AB412 EP, AB139, and AW139 helicopters. This AD was prompted by a report that certain rescue hoist cable assemblies may be equipped with a defective ball end. This AD requires inspecting certain rescue hoist cable assemblies and, depending on the results, replacing the rescue hoist cable assembly. This AD also allows installing certain rescue hoist cable assemblies and certain rescue hoists provided its requirements are met. These actions are specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

Directives linked to this airframe family in the FAA / EASA regulatory corpus we have processed — not a complete historical AD list. An AD is a compliance requirement that drives scheduled work (inspections, replacements, modifications) across the fleet; inspection directives are not replacement directives, and none of this is a prediction that any part will fail.
